Best Practices 2025 EXPO & Conference Partners with Kansas State University for Pneumatic Conveying Workshop

Kansas State University is collaborating with Best Practices 2025 EXPO & Conference to bring a Pneumatic Conveying Workshop to the Kansas City event this fall. In this workshop, Jonathan McPherson, Director of Advanced Manufacturing and Bulk Solids Technology Center, Kansas State University, will cover the fundamentals of pneumatic conveying and review basic calculations and sizing. It takes place Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1-2:30 p.m. Attendees will earn 1.5 PDH credits. Click here to register.

Session 1: Pneumatic Conveying Fundamentals

Session 2: Basic Calculations and Sizing Introduction

  • Explanation of pressure drop due to
    • Air velocity
    • Elbows
    • Material entrained in air stream
  • Calculation options
    • Hand calculations
    • Commercially available sizing tool
    • OEM suppliers

Jonathan McPherson comes from industry having spent 11 years designing and commissioning material handling projects as a Project Engineer and developing business relationships in the markets of performance materials, battery and general industry as an Account Executive. His project backgrounds include plastics, PVC, paint, lead-acid battery, food and confectionary. McPherson works to support the development of advanced manufacturing training by offering industry-focused short courses on bulk solids and material handling. He manages Kansas State University’s advanced manufacturing research program, which focuses on solving real industry problems.
