The University of Wisconsin’s Interdisciplinary Professional Programs announces two online interactive courses led by Tom Jenkins.

Tom Jenkins, Adjunct Professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Blowers for Wastewater and Industrial Applications: Application considerations, theory fundamentals, selection criteria, specification requirements, operating characteristics and maintenance will be covered. Topics include:

  • Basic thermodynamics for blowers
  • Analysis methods for air moving systems
  • Characteristics of positive displacement and dynamic blowers
  • Blower control system fundamentals
  • Blower system accessories

For more information, see https://interpro.wisc.edu/courses/blowers-for-wastewater-and-industrial-applications.

Performance Testing of Blowers for Wastewater and Industrial Applications: Rigorous testing is essential for developing application data and verifying the performance of blowers. This course will present a comprehensive explanation of the theory and implementation of blower testing procedures. Topics include:

  • Philosophy and fundamental concepts of blower testing
  • Thermodynamic properties of air and their impact on blower system performance
  • Test procedures and test limitations for centrifugal and positive displacement blowers
  • Calculations necessary for performance evaluation
  • Testing specification requirements
  • Comparison of ASME, CAGI and ISO test protocols

For more information, see https://interpro.wisc.edu/courses/performance-testing-of-blowers-for-wastewater-and-industrial-applications.

Each course will consist of six 1.5-hour live online sessions with two sessions per week, and each is eligible for 9 PDH or 0.9 CEU credits.
